The Southwest Airline is one of the major airlines in the United States and is very popular for its low fare. However, the Southwest Airline recently went through a major crisis upsetting its customers. The Southwest Airlines canceled a large number of its flights over the holidays due to weather situations and issues with its outdated technology infrastructure. More than half of its flights, about 8000, were canceled since December 22, 2022, which amounted to roughly 87% of all canceled flights across the United States. Southwest Airlines has a point to point service, and when one flight gets delayed/canceled, it causes a chain reaction impacting other connecting flights in the schedule. This mass cancelation has led to people being stranded across the country and has severely impacted the brand image of Southwest Airlines. Although the flight cancelations and delays can be justified due to inclement weather conditions and antiquated technology systems, it is important to consider how much responsibility these companies owe to those impacted.
